Billing and Financial Responsibility

Our billing department works hard daily to manage insurance claims on your behalf

At Young Pediatrics, we extend our personal approach to healthcare through all aspects of your visit. Our billing department is not outsourced but is a division of our office so we can be easily accessible to answer your questions and navigate insurance claims on your behalf.

Young Pediatrics will bill the insurance you provide to us at the time of service. We will ask to see your insurance card at every visit to ensure that we have the most up to date information in your child’s account.

It is the responsibility of the assigned account holder to understand the benefits of the policy including but not limited to, co-pay amount, co-insurance percentage and deductible amount. We are here to assist you in any way, but every policy is different and unique.

Co-pays are due at the time of service.

We provide easy online payment options through the patient portal.

We are required to report visits outside of normal business hours to your insurance provider. Appointments scheduled before 8:30am, after 5pm, and on Saturdays will incur an additional fee, which may be applied to your copay, coinsurance, or annual deductible.

- Preventative care visits are annual wellness visits that include certain health screenings, specific tests, and immunizations. Other health issues, ongoing or acute symptoms, may be addressed at the wellness visit, but are not considered preventative. Although we are happy to combine these visits when able, your insurance company will process them separately. These services may be covered under your plan’s health benefits, but not your preventative care benefits. This means you may be responsible for paying a share or all of the cost. This may include your plan’s deductible, copay, or  insurance amounts, depending on your plan.

Insurance Information

Young Pediatrics participates in the following insurance plans in addition to some other smaller plans. Note that many insurance companies have network specific plans which we may not be a part of. We strongly suggest that you contact your insurance plan prior to scheduling an appointment to verify that your doctor is in network in order to incur the lowest possible cost to your family.

Accepted Insurance Plans

Excluded Insurance Plans

  • Missouri Medicaid

Please remember to contact your insurance company directly about preferred providers and coverage for copays, specific labs or hospital groups they prefer, immunization coverage, and the need for prior authorization for procedures and sub-specialty appointments. Every plan is different, even within the same company. Be sure to know your plan!

Insurance Tips:

  • Newborns
    • Be sure to notify your insurance company about your newborn soon after birth. It is important to add your new baby to your policy during the stated grace period. Most insurance companies require newborns to be added to the plan within thirty days from the date of birth in order for all services to be paid from the date of birth. Failure to do so may result in denial of your claims back to the baby’s date of birth, leaving you responsible for all services until the next open enrollment period.
  • Co-Pays
    • Co-pays are part of a contract with your insurance, and legally we must collect them. Co-Pays are due at the time of visit. They may be paid online or in the office, but if not paid that day may incur a fee.
  • Coverage
    • Immunizations: Find out if your insurance plan covers immunizations at 100%. Most do, but if not please let us know. Underinsured children are eligible to receive federal VFC vaccines at minimal to no cost but may need to go to the health department for them.
    • Change of Insurance or Account Information: If your insurance coverage or account information changes in any way, including co-pay amounts, insurance updates, and change of mailing address, please contact our office as soon as possible. You will also need to have your new insurance cards available at the time of the visit. If the account holder does not notify the office within 15 calendar days of these changes, the assigned account holder becomes responsible for any and all charges.
    • Additional Services: Young Pediatrics follows the evidence-driven AAP Bright Futures guidelines for preventative healthcare to provide the best care for long-term health and a Bright Future for your child. Most insurance companies cover most CHADIS questionnaires and additional recommend services, such as fluoride treatments and vision screening; however, it is the patient’s responsibility to verify coverage with their insurance company. If any questionnaires or services are denied by insurance, the cost will be the patient’s responsibility.
